2006 was a
great year for red wine. Our 06 syrah grapes are from the Dry Creek Valley,
both farmed by Ray Teldeschi. They were picked at elevated sugar levels and
maximum ripeness. This accounts for the fruitiness of the wine. There are 8%
petite sirah grapes from the Russian River Valley blended into the syrah.
We used open
top fermentation for this syrah. The wine was punched down by hand. The wine
was aged in 100% French oak, 30% new barrels for 1 year. The wine is very
dark ruby, rich, and has a dark black raspberry fruit flavor juxtaposed to a
very rich, toasty vanilla flavor from the oak. |
